Sole proprietorships are free to start in terms of legal registration and do not require a separate tax return in most cases as the income from a sole proprietorship is usually just reported as self employment income.
Taking the next step up from a sole proprietorship, we come to the concept of a partnership. There are a number of similarities between the two business types and the most obvious ones to point out are that partnerships are cheap and easy to run in the legal sense because all of the partners can usually just report their share as self-employment income rather than requiring another tax return for the business. The partners also share responsibility for the business by default in a legal sense unless there is an agreement that specifically assigns responsibility to one partner.
Up from a partner is a private corporation. This is a business that is a separate entity from the people that run it; all of the liabilities are the businesses and for the most part the people running the business cannot be held responsible for those liabilities. However, the maintenance of a corporation requires regular fees to be paid as well as up front registration fees and regular records of the business affairs must be kept along with regular board meetings. Also, a separate tax return for the business is required because it is a separate entity.

Conversely, sign on to become a mentor and find that the mentees more or less are not as serious about becoming entrepreneurs or productive members of the business community, and you will find that you are wasting your time and energy.
On the other hand, if you are lucky enough to get connected with a facilitator that works hard on pairing the right kinds of mentors with respective mentees, and you will find that you are in for the learning experience of your life! Such a business mentoring program can become the backbone of your business success with the venture you are currently engaged in as well as any future ventures you might be considering at some other point in time. Unfortunately for the lazy layperson there is no such truth to this equation. However there is a new paradigm and there are new ways of making money. No longer is it hard sweaty labor over a hot iron ore or a lifetime of manual labor for a pittance in return. Being your own boss is a great experience. It is liberating and it seems like a dream come true for many people. However, being your own boss is also a lot of responsibility and something that some people may struggle with. It takes a special person to be able to stay motivated and focused enough to be their own boss. Fortunately, almost anyone can learn how to be their own boss just by understanding the challenges of the job.
Meeting deadlines and getting things done is something that the average worker simply does or they know they will be fired. In the work at home environment, though, those rules can sometimes be laced. There may not be someone right there saying things need to get done. Clients may not be pushy, but that doesn’t mean they are not noticing the lack of professionalism. Being your own boss means being responsible and meeting deadlines. This requires a good schedule and being able to focus and stay on task.
